OPS members, guests & patrons do not have to register and are welcome to come and watch the best plein air painters in the country. (think: free demo!)
Bring your gear! Any OPS member can paint along with PASW artists in the Quick Draw, but only PASW artists can participate in the exhibition at Southwest Gallery.
DESCRIPTION OF PAINTING AREA:
Lakeside Drive begins on the north end at Beverly Drive (Dallas Country Club) and ends 5 blocks south at Armstrong. It's 1 block east of Preston Road. Lakeside is a residential street with plenty of curbside parking. Access to Turtle Creek is by paved walkways and a few rock/dirt paths all along the creek. The area is beautiful with azaleas in full bloom along with other flowers. Huge mature trees of all varieties....beginning at Armstrong, the creek is more "natural" and as it flows north, it opens up into a pond-like scene with water lilies, ducks and geese. The homes across the creek make interesting reflections in the water At Laurel & Lakeside is a footbridge to the other side.
**7:00 AM...or "first light": Painting may begin anytime after arrival BUT PASW artists must finish by 11:00 AM.
Competition painting time has been extended to allow artists more time to find that perfect spot and perhaps spread out the painters a bit....(some will come early & finish early)
PASW artists must deliver their painting - framed & ready to hang - to Southwest Gallery by 12:00 noon. The Gallery is approximately 12 minutes north via Tollway.
