WORKSHOPS & CLASSES

OPS membership boasts not only gifted painters, but excellent teachers and workshop instructors as well.  Visit this page often for updates and new workshop listings.  Classes and workshops are open to any artist wishing to advance their skills to the next level.  You need not be a member of Outdoor Painters Society to attend one of these workshops....but after meeting and painting along with some of our members, we hope you will consider joining this active outdoor painting group. (We paint indoors too!)

 WORKSHOPS

PEGGY IMMEL 2020 WORKSHOPS

IT’S NOT EASY PAINTING GREEN
Workshop Dates: Friday, April 17 – Sunday, April 19, 2020
Location: Sorrel Sky Gallery, 828 Main Ave, Durango, CO 81301

Fee: $350.00

Learn how to easily and successfully capture the greens of spring and summer in your landscapes! This three-day studio workshop will explore an approach to color and painting systems that will help you to understand and achieve the effects of atmosphere and light in your paintings. Topics will include basic color theory, understanding chroma, understanding color value, relative color temperature, atmospheric perspective, the effects of light, pigment characteristics and mixing paints. Field studies, photographs and sketches will be used to study and develop pieces that explore landscape scenes. Reference materials will be provided but students are encouraged to bring their own as well.  Daily demonstrations will be in oil but other media are welcome. This class is open to artists of all ability levels.

These workshops are a combination of Studio and Plein Air, weather permitting, and covers all aspects of painting whether on location or in the studio. 55 acres of large trees, open pastures left natural, and big skies are the subject matter you see in many of his paintings, are there for you to paint.

The workshops are $395 for the three days. Lodging if needed, is separate.

These workshops are all inclusive with meals.
