Central Texas Trio

(LaGrange, Smithville, and Bastrop)

April 18-20, 2019

Fields of bluebonnets, the most historic small town in Texas, scenes of movie sets, river views and more, all await OPS plein air artists to capture as we work our way along Hwy 71 in Central Texas.

On Thursday, we begin the painting adventure in the historic town of La Grange, former location of the infamous "Chicken Ranch."  Although its building no longer exists, there is still plenty to paint in this quaint, yet thriving, town located just 68 miles southeast of Austin TX.  LaGrange is the seat for Fayette County and has an impressive town square.

On Friday morning paint on the 9E Ranch near Smithville where you can paint fields of wildflowers, log cabins, Longhorns and quarter horses.  The small town of Smithville (site of movie filming Hope Floats and other movies) provides lots of interesting buildings and trains for afternoon painting.

We move up the road on Saturday to paint in the town of Bastrop and  along the Colorado River. At the end of the day we'll gather at Lost Pines Art Center to show and, possibly, sell paintings.   Join us for this Central Texas Trio.

Registration is now open.
