"As a
plein-air painter, I get to enjoy my two favorite things – painting
and being out of doors. I love the landscape of the American West
in particular, with its infinite variety of subject matter and
mood. It is where I feel the most at home. A native of Texas, I
usually spend half of the year in the Hill Country and the rest of
the year at our ranch in Northern New Mexico or traveling to places
such as Wyoming, Montana, and Arizona. These places possess such a
natural beauty. I have always been drawn to their mountains,
rivers, deserts and canyons. I love to observe the magnificent
wildlife in their natural habitat.
Whether
the day is warm and sunny or cool and damp is of no concern to me;
each has a quality that stirs emotion and invites me to attempt to
capture it on canvas. I want those who see my paintings to feel
like they were with me, seeing the same play of light and shadow,
the same colors and reflections.
Every
day, God presents us with these amazing visual gifts. It is my
desire to share these gifts with others through my paintings, and I
feel blessed to be able to do so." |
